On the motorway we go towards Jesenice until the exit Ljubelj. From here we continue to the border crossing, only a few meters before we follow the signs for Zelenica. We continue towards the gravel parking lot under the ski centre.

From the parking lot we go towards Zelenica, Vrtača and Stol. We go uphill on a rut, left to the ski lane, after a few minutes we reach the forest and follow the path to the lodge on Vrtača. We continue straight, on the marked path leading towards dwarf pines. We are moderately ascending, later again continuing on the rut that brings us to Zelenica (in the wintertime, when the ski centre is open, the walk on the slopes is prohibited. Then we take the road on the rescue path). From the lodge we continue towards the north wall of Begunjščica, represented by a wide ravine that narrows in the middle, but later extends again. We reach a rocky blockade that gets narrower with the walls from both sides. We climb through a centre of a narrow chute and continue towards the wider ravine.  When the path gets less steep, we ascend towards right with the view on Smokruški avalanche. From here we only need a few minutes to reach the top.
