Access:
On the motorway we go towards Jesenice until the exit Tržič/Ljubelj. From here continue in direction of the border crossing, until we reach the village Podljubelj. Here we turn towards the village and camp. Go forward until the crossroads, on the left, over the bridge the road splits towards the camp, but we continue straight ahead on the road that is parallel to the main road. We stay on the road until a small bridge, where we turn left on the crossroads. Soon we reach a parking lot.

From the parking lot we go towards a narrow bridge, once across we turn left and continue towards the sign for Preval, Begunjščica and Dobrča. We take the road ascending above the village passing the sign “driving prohibited”. We cross another bridge and continue up on overgrown slope. On our way up we pass several view points and come upon the edges of the woods, where there is an intersection.  We can take either of the two paths, because both join again on the top of Preval. From the mountain lodge on Preval we continue on the marked path towards Begunjščica over Kalvarija. We walk on grassy slopes, through the woods. Where the woods become thinner, the path begins to ascend. From here we are in for a steep hike, first through heath, on higher altitudes on grassy slopes. We go through a ravine to the memorial monument, than continue on grassy slopes. Later the marked path turns left, after a few minutes we arrive to a small valley where the path straightens. After the valley the path again ascends towards the main ridge. On the ridge is beautiful view. We follow the path on the narrow ridge. After a short descend, the path leading from Šentanski plaz joins. The Begunjščica ridge widens from there on.  We continue to the Veliki Vrh. We reach the top of Begunjščica only after a short descend and ascend towards the top.
