Big Hubelj cave is the largest and most known. Main entrance is seen from the bridge over the Hubelj. Even nicer is the entrance at high water, when from the cave Hubelj vomits and the water falls into the valley.
Entry cavity soon narrows into a crack between boulder of rock. There is a tunnel, which drops for 17 meters and brings the water to the surface. That is lower entrance to the cave.
Behind is larger Long hall. This is the part of the cave that water rarely achieves. In the whole it has never been flooded. At the eastern end of Big hall cave narrows into Narrow passage. It its lowest part is a pool with a permanent trapped water. Narrow passage is divided into two branches. Upper branch leads to the crossing, where several parallel passages meet. One leading to the Eeastern passage, other to Big hall. Lower branch of Narrow passage is regularly flooded. If brings us to drain traps and then along Eastern passage to Big hall. From here we descend steeply to siphon lake.
At low water level the water in siphon disappears. At that time we can come above the siphon on Steep passage to the Narrow hall. Steep passage has rounded or oval profile, while others were formed at faults or cracks. Narrow hall has the same direction, north-northeast, as part of the cave from Narrow passage to Big hall. On the bottom of narrow hall is a lake. At low water level the lake is shallower and it is possible to go across towards northwest into Final hall. This hall has triangle floor plan, longest side is in direction northwest – southeast. This part of the cave is coverd by clay. 5 meters above the bottom of the hall is a tunnel 30 meters lond and leads to siphon.

Hubelj caves
All three caves were formed in the gable of Hubelj spring. East wall of the gable represent the walls of slope of the breccia. Northern walls are made of limestone. Spring occured, because flysch, on which limestone cover is applied, is in this part the lowest and that is why water carved here a free path. [_Read more_]
