Once in Višnja Gora stood the Codelli castle, but during the war it was burned down. The remains are not visible today, as on its place they erected a settlement with family houses named Baronov hrib (en. Barons hill).
Codelli castle, also named Turn or Višnje (en. Sour cherry), indicated that on this place earlier stood a tower. Višnje (church or chapel) at castle was for the first time mentioned in year 1433. Early owners of the castle were lords Galli, which followed Pfeilsberg’s. Followed by Taufferer’s, who were the owners until year 1645. In year 1891 the estate came under the rule of Codelli’s. Last owner of the castle was Rozalija Codelli (1852 – 1938). She was a poet and benefactress of many Višnje residents. Her manuscripts are stored in National and university library in Ljubljana.
