Next to the trellis of European friendship, where 25 grapevines are already planted, was a vine planted from the grapevine species Velvety blackness (Žametna črnina) – named also Velvety or Modra kavčina. This species of grapevine grows on Lent in Maribor for more than 400 years, at the same time it is the oldest grapevine in the world.
The daughter of this grapevine was given into protection to the vintner and keeper of European grapevines Danilo Bandel. It was planted on May 18th 2008, on this day it was also baptized; for the baptism they used the wine Teran.
With that Pliskovica joined numerous places, where descendants of the oldest grapevine in the world grow.
