City house Višnja Gora

City house is located on the left side of Mestni trg (en. Town square) and is for centuries in public-city domain. Above the entrance door on the arch the inscription Mestna hiša 1892 (en. City house 1892) is carved. It was intended for headquarters of the city judge, later also to Mayor and conferences of the city council. Until year 1906 it housed a school.

In chronicles of Konrad Črnologar from year 1885 it is written: ”In one-storey city house, is at the floor a sexton apartment and city dungeon, in first storey are two school rooms and city archive.”

In its archive the stamp of city Višnja Gora from 14th century was stored, as snail shell chained to a chain. Today it is a seat of Local community of Višnja Gora, library and Society of pensioners. In first storey is conference room, which is designed for societies and various exhibitions. City house Višnja Gora was renovated in year 1998.
