Forest didactic path in valley of Draga

Start of the forest didactic path in valley of Draga is at the hunting lodge near the Big pond. Route goes along forest trails and partly on forest roads. Leads through Draška ribs below the village Dobravica, passing by Čelo at altitude 415 meters and in the Middle pond drops from forest to village road near the beginning. The lenght of forest didactic route is 3.2 km.

The route is equipped with 27 wooden boards. Most are representing tree and shrub species; Brek (wild tree), Polish maple, beech, hornbeam, much-leaves lime, ash, cherry, wych elm, Cornelian cherry, European larch, green pine, sessile oak, spruce, fir, common hazel and black elder. Besides them we learn about the forest community of beech forests, thermophilous forest, cancer formation and see ground or soil profiles and much more.

The valley of Draga is located in the southern edge of Ljubljana Marshes and runs in direction North-South. In year 1986 it was decleared as a natura monument. The valley was formed by the stream Draščica, which comes from Krim-Mokriško hills. The length of the valley is 1.5 kilometers.  [_Read more_]
